Partner experience
Bagus Surf House ร SurfWeek ยท Sรฃo Miguel, Azores
A complete surf, island and community experience in Sรฃo Miguel for international guests looking for more than just accommodation.
The partnership
SurfWeek has been organizing surf experiences for 11 years. Not surf camps. Not tours. Weeks where strangers arrive on a Sunday and leave as people who stay in touch โ because the ocean, the house and the group create something that doesn't happen in hotels.
We've been in the Azores for 5 years. That time on the island shapes everything โ the surf spots we know, the local contacts we've built, and the island moments we include that you won't find in any travel guide.
Bagus regularly hears from international guests who want more than a room. They want to surf, to explore the island properly, to arrive somewhere and find people โ not just a bed. You stay at Bagus, and the full programme runs through SurfWeek.
If you want accommodation without the hosted experience, book directly with Bagus. This page is for guests who want the full package: surf, people, island and a week that takes care of itself.

A week, loosely
We don't sell a fixed itinerary. We've spent five years on this island, so we read the ocean, the weather and the group each morning and decide the day from there. The plan below is a sketch of a typical week โ not a timetable.
Pickup at PDL, settle into the house, welcome aperitivo, meet the people you'll share the week with.
Level check in the water, intro theory lesson, first session on the board at a beach that suits the day.
Morning in the water, afternoon at Lagoa do Fogo โ a hike and a swim in a volcanic crater most tours skip.
Another session, then a SurfSkate demo at a local pump track to feel the same movement on land.
Surf in the morning, sunset over the twin lakes of Sete Cidades โ a spot we time carefully with the light.
Waterfalls, hot springs, a local spot off the usual map โ the kind of place you only find with people who live here.
A final surf to put it all together, then a long dinner with the group โ usually the night nobody wants to end.
Breakfast, goodbyes, and a transfer back to the airport โ usually with a group chat that stays active for years.
The order changes, and that's the point. If the surf is firing on day five, we surf. If a storm rolls in, we explore inland. We adapt the programme to the group โ never the group to the programme.

The SurfWeek difference
You join a small international group from day one. No need to coordinate strangers or find people to explore with.
Lessons, board, wetsuit, transfers, theory โ all organized. You just show up, paddl out and focus on the water.
Airport pickup, local transport, island plans โ all coordinated by the team. No car rental stress, no lost hours planning.
Most guests travel alone. The structure and group atmosphere make it easy to connect. You're never on your own unless you want to be.
SurfWeek staff spend time in the Azores to learn the waves, spots and island rhythm. That knowledge shapes the programme daily.
Shared house, shared meals, shared moments. The people you meet during the week are the ones you often keep in touch with after.
Food at the house
After surfing all day, the last thing you want is to hunt for a restaurant. So we keep an Italian chef at the house โ someone who cooks real food and puts it on a shared table.
For international guests, that's a small luxury: proper Italian cooking, on a remote Atlantic island, eaten together with the group. Dinners at the house are where the week's friendships actually form.
Real Italian cooking โ not catering trays
Eat together at the house โ no restaurant-hunting after surf
Optional meal package โ 6 lunches + 6 dinners, โฌ100/pp

Is this for you?
The structure of the week and the group atmosphere make it easy to show up alone and leave with people.
No experience needed (Level 0). Beginners wanting consistency (Level 1). Intermediates working on progression (Level 2). Each session adapts to where you actually are.
The whole experience runs in English and is built for an international crowd. Our staff communicate in English and are used to hosting guests from different countries.
You want a week with people, not just a board and a room. The shared house dynamic is the point, not a side effect.
You want someone to handle the logistics โ transfers, surf planning, island moments โ so you can focus on being there.
You value shared moments over curated isolation. The people around you matter as much as the destination.
You only want accommodation โ book directly with Bagus for that
You prefer a fully private schedule with no group interaction
You want a hotel-style service experience
You prefer to plan and organize everything independently

Common questions
Can I join alone?
Yes, absolutely. Most guests join alone. The group structure and shared house atmosphere make it easy to connect from the first evening. By day two, you won't feel like a solo traveller.
What surf level do I need?
This SurfWeek covers levels 0, 1 and 2. Level 0 is for first-timers with no prior experience. Level 1 is for beginners who've tried surfing but want more consistency. Level 2 is for early intermediates working on timing, take-off and positioning. You don't need to be good at surfing โ you need to be willing to try.
Are flights included?
No. Flights to Ponta Delgada airport (PDL) are not included. Once you land, the SurfWeek team takes care of everything: airport transfer, local transport and logistics for the whole week.
Is food included?
Seven breakfasts and a welcome aperitivo are included. Lunches and dinners are not part of the base package. You can add 6 lunches and 6 dinners as an optional extra for โฌ100 per person.
Is the experience in English?
The experience runs in English โ that's what we guarantee. Our staff communicate in English and the week is built for international guests, so you'll feel at home whether or not you speak Italian. We can't promise the exact make-up of each group, but it's never an Italian-only experience.
Who organizes the experience?
SurfWeek organizes and runs the full experience โ surf programme, logistics, transfers, island moments and group coordination. Bagus Surf House is the accommodation partner. Your booking is confirmed and paid through SurfWeek's system.
Where do I sleep?
At Bagus Surf House in Sรฃo Miguel. Available room types are shared bunk rooms and twin double rooms. The double/twin option is +โฌ50 per person and is subject to availability when you confirm your booking. Room allocation may change as bookings come in โ confirm early.
Can I book only accommodation at Bagus?
If you want accommodation without the hosted SurfWeek experience, please book directly with Bagus Surf House. This page is exclusively for guests who want the full package: surf programme, logistics, transfers, insurance and SurfWeek staff included.
When do I pay?
You book and pay directly through SurfWeek's booking system โ no pre-confirmation needed. Click "Book now" on your preferred week, select your room type and complete the booking online.
What if the ocean is flat?
The programme adapts daily to conditions, weather and the group. On flatter days, the focus moves to island exploration, local moments, SurfSkate sessions or free time. The Azores is rarely boring โ there's always something worth doing.
